Thelma R. Swope, 74, Mooresville, formerly of Cloverdale, passed away on July 13, 2010 at her residence.

She was born in Cloverdale on Aug. 27, 1935 and was the daughter of the late George Wesley and Divona Parks Query. She was married to Jack E. Swope in 1953 and he survives.

The Swopes were co-owners and operators of the Clover Queen Drive-In for 20 years, and then the Swope Realty and Auction Company, where she was a real estate broker for another 20 years, retiring in 1996.

Thelma was past president of the Putnam County Board of Realtors and Cloverdale Business Association. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Hurst-Collins Post No. 281, Cloverdale, and had served as Hoosier Girl's State Chairman.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughters, Joyce Ellen Champ and Jacki E. Secrest and their husbands, Trent Champ and Ron Secrest. Her life was devoted to her daughters and much loved grandchildren: Taylor Marr Neal and husband Patrick, Sonnet Marr and husband Daniel, Jake Secrest and fiancé Madison Rachelle Smith, Lee Secrest and May Secrest. Thelma was also enchanted with her great-grandchildren, Rylegh Secrest and Jack Swope Marr. She is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis Peak, Carole Query, Vicki Donavan and Emma Sue Morejon and brothers Thurman Query and Lloyd Query.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Evelyn Jones and Coralie Lester and her brother Duane Query.

Showing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday with funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Friend of the family Bret Miller will be conducting the ceremony.
