Thursday is the day for the Annual Bakers' Best Contest in the Adult Open Class exhibit hall. The featured flavor is citrus. Entry forms and complete rules are available at the exhibit hall and at the Greencastle Kroger Store, which is major sponsor of the contest.

Besides bragging rights, the numerous rewards that can be earned include over $500 in Kroger gift cards, a one of a kind rolling pin made and donated by Bill Perkins, an engraved batter bowl donated by the Darwyn Nelson family in memory of Ila Nelson, and the embroidered apron or chef's hat made by Maxine Neeley, which will be presented to the champion.

Those wishing to participate in the contest should bring their entries (cookies, cakes, pies or breads) to the exhibit hall between 9 and 11 a.m. Thursday. Open judging of the entries begins at 12:30 p.m. Announcement of winners and awards begins at 7 p.m. followed by the auction, which is open to all.
