LAFAYETTE -- The Greencastle girls' golf squad placed 13th at the McCutcheon Invite Thursday after posting a score of 440.

Katie Hedge paced the Tiger Cubs with an 87, while Diane Wokoun shot a 99. Kay Wood and Makenzie St. Marie added a pair of 127s.

"I was pleased with Katie's score, particularly as it was the first time she was playing in the No. 1 position. She finished ninth in a big field with a number of talented teams and players," Kingma said.

Kingma said she still had some problems with short shots on the par 3s, but hoped the day's low round will give her some confidence.

Kingma was also pleased with St. Marie, but would like to see more consistency with her and Wood.

"Kenzie bounced back from a bad round Monday to finish about where she was at the end of last year. She and Kay each showed some stretches of good play, but were just unable to maintain consistency.

"They really just need more reps with feedback out on the range to reinforce their good swings," Kingma added.

The Tiger Cubs were without usual No. 1 Chelsea Samuels Thursday, but Kingma noted she'd be back for their match Monday.

"Teamwise, we were clearly hurt by not having Chelsea today," Kingma said. "She'll be back for the match on Monday with North Putnam.
