James P. Stinson, 76, Stilesville, passed away Aug. 6, 2010 at

Hendricks Regional Health in Danville after a fight with cancer.

He was born Aug. 2, 1934 in Jewel Ridge, Va. and was the son of the late John K. Stinson and Lera M. [Whitt] Stinson Cook.

James married Wanda [Caudill] Stinson on Oct. 3, 1959, and she survives, after serving two years in the U. S. Army, 17 months of which was in Korea.

James was a retiree of the IBEW Local 481. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bill [Cindy] Stinson of Greencastle, Doug [Teresa] Stinson of Greencastle, Thomas [Amber] Stinson of Avon and Amy Stinson of Stilesville; grandchildren, Cody and Chyeanne Stinson of Brownsburg, Maddison and Gracie Stinson of Avon and Robert, Raymond and Conner Stinson of Greencastle; sister Betty Jean Allee of Reelsville; brothers Hansford [Rhonda] Stinson of Fillmore and Robert J. Stinson of Brazil; sister-in-law Phyllis [Caudill] Hamilton of Greencastle; three aunts and one uncle.

Graveside services will be held at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Deer Creek Cemetery in Greencastle with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating.

Visitation will be from noon until 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Jamie and Lori Leigh Stinson, brothers, Glen and David Stinson and his stepfather, Thomas Cook.
