Endowment to benefit Summer Concert Series
The Putnam County Community Foundation announces The Paul and Joanne Kissinger Endowment to benefit the Summer Concert Series. The Summer Concert Series is currently held at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church during the summer months and brings world-renowned concert musicians to Greencastle for free performances open to the public.
The endowment was started by Joanne and her two children, Lisa Kissinger Kaplan and Scott Kissinger, in memory of their husband and father, Paul B. Kissinger. Lisa and Scott also wanted to honor their mother, Joanne, by supporting one of her many community interests.
Paul was a physics professor at DePauw University and former musician during his secondary and college years. Paul and Joanne shared a love for the DePauw University School of Music and other community music programs. It afforded them "a rich experience in a variety of excellent performances by faculty and guests."
The inspiration for establishing this fund came after the Summer Classical Music Series thought they had lost their 2009 funds due to a theft at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church. This fund will help to ensure a continuing summer concert series with many free high-quality performances for the entire community to enjoy, as well as shape the legacy for two beloved community members, Paul and Joanne Kissinger.
Anyone may contribute to the Paul and Joanne Kissinger Endowment or start a new endowment in his/her own name. Contributions to the Endowment should be made payable to the Putnam County Community Foundation with "Kissinger" or "Summer Concert Series" in the memo, and mailed to 2 South Jackson Street, Greencastle, Indiana 46135. Community Foundation staff are available to help donors make gifts of cash, stock, retirement assets, life insurance, bequests, real estate and other types of gifts.
