Greencastle Fire Department

Aug. 8, 3:37 p.m.: Alarm at 5 East Larabee St. Panel showed detector on second floor, but crews found nothing. Reset alarm. Back in service 3:52 p.m.

Aug. 9, 11:57 a.m.: 316 Medic Way. Disregarded at 12 p.m.

Aug. 9, 6:08 p.m.: Alarm at Heartland Automotive, 300 S. Warren Dr. Investigation only. Advised system had been on test all day. Back in service 18:19 p.m.

Aug. 9, 9:41 p.m.: Sprinkler investigation at The Waters of Greencastle, 1601 Hospital Dr. Advised sound of explosion came from sprkler system. Crews shut system down and discovered three leaks. Building maintenance was at the scene. Back in service 10:48 p.m.

Aug. 12, 9:54 a.m.: Alarm at 507 S. Locust St. Disregarded before leaving station, 9:58 a.m.

Aug. 12, 11:58 a.m.: Property damage accident at Bloomington St. and SR 240. Crews cleaned fluids from roadway. Back in service 12:24 p.m.

Aug. 12, 3:12 p.m.: Alarm at 916 S. College Ave. Alarm activated due to construction. Crews tried to restore system, but alarm company had to be contacted. Back in service 3:37 p.m.

Greencastle Police Department

* Aug. 12, 11:58 a.m.: Jeffrey Noparstak, 25, Savoy, Ill., in a 2007 Hyandai, and Shelley Arnold-King, 39, Greencastle, in a 2000 Pontiac, were on Veteran's Memorial Highway, approaching from different directions. Noparstak, traveling westbound, noticed the light was yellow and attempted to beat the red light with his left turn. However, King also tried to beat the light, and continued eastbound through the light, as Noparstak turned in front of her.

Both vehicles towed by Seniour's. Damage estimate $5,001-$10,000.

* Aug. 6, 4:23 p.m.: Mark Wallen, 51, Greencastle, was attempting to leave the Dollar General and turn south on US 231 N. Michael Gardner, 31, Greencastle, was attempting to cross from Green St. to Dollar General. Wallen advised he looked both directions, and then started to pull out. He did not see Gardner and struck him as he crossed.

Both men denied medical attention.

Damage estimate $1,001-$2,500.

* Aug. 7, 10:59 p.m.: Nicole Richardson, 21, Indianapolis, operating a 1999 Chevrolet westbound on SR 240 East, approaching Calbert Way, when a deer ran in front of her vehicle. She was unable to avoid the collision.

Damage estimate $1,001-$2.500.

Aug. 4, 5:47 a.m.: Elizabeth Cazares, 41, Romeoville, Ill., Bloomington St., 50 in a 30.

Aug. 7, 4:23 a.m.: Rachel Billings, 22, Fillmore, Bloomington St., false or fictitious registration.

Aug. 10, 5:45 a.m.: Jeremy Newgent, 32, Greencastle, Shadowlawn Ave., 55 in a 30.
