Community Christmas Choir organizers looking for new members

Monday, August 16, 2010

Organizers of the Community Christmas Choir are seeking choir members for the 9th annual production.

The organizational meeting will occur at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12 in the Browns Valley Christian Church auditorium.

This year's selected Christmas concert is titled "The Promise of Christmas," which is created by Phil Barefoot and arranged and orchestrated by Dave Williamson.

This unique and extraordinary opportunity to praise the birth of our Savior through song and fellowship with others who share the same appreciation and passion for music will undeniably be the most important choice you make this year.

This invitation to be a part of the Community Christmas Choir is in no way an attempt to replace or even detract from any Christmas performances other area churches may be planning.

This community group was created to provide vocalists and listeners an additional opportunity to celebrate during this joyous time of year.

Last year the choir grew to a record number of 90 members and more than 1,500 people attended the dinner and concert.

As in years past, the Christmas concert will be performed at the Russellville Community Center in early December. Even if you chose not to participate, please plan to attend the concert. More information about the performance dates and pre-concert meals will be forthcoming.

"The Promise of Christmas" will feature narration, drama, solos, the adult community choir and children's choir. The music is arranged SATB and is moderately easy in difficulty. A songbook and free rehearsal CD will be available for practice to all those who join this year. At the organizational meeting a non-interfering practice schedule will be created, performance dates will be decided upon and will also include sight-reading music.

The invitation is open to anyone who desires to be part of a fun-filled and soul-stirring opportunity. Prospective members will not be asked to audition for the choir but only to possess the courage to turn ordinary voices into extraordinary worship.

Any questions or requests for more information should be directed to choir director Jamie France at 653-0759 or jamieamy21@aol.com
