GREENCASTLE -- Tuesday proved to be a rough start to the season for the Greencastle girls' soccer team. The Tiger Cubs lost to an aggressive and deep Tri-West squad 7-1 at home.

The Bruins came out aggressive and never let up their pace. They pressured the Tiger Cubs on both ends of the pitch, resulting in just two GHS shots on goal and zero goals in the first half.

On the other side, Tri-West managed to post five goals in the period, with Abby Meyers adding their first goal at the 26:49 mark. With 19:21 on the clock Tri-West had another chance to score early, but Meyers's kick hit the goal and trickled just in front of the goal without going in.

After going scoreless in the first period, Greencastle was able to find the net and put its only goal of the night on the board.

With 24:50 on the clock, Katie Farris caught the Bruins keeper out of position and battled to push the ball into the goal. It would be the only score on the night for the Tiger Cubs.

Tri-West went on to score two more goals in the half to run the score to its final tally at 7-1 in favor of the Bruins.

The Tiger Cubs had freshman Melody White in goal, and while she allowed a few goals on the night, she made some tough saves that could have easily led to more points for the Bruins.

Greencastle head coach Curt Bingman said he was happy with how his girls played hard the entire game and didn't give up.
