Monday, August 23, 2010

VEEDERSBURG -- The Greencastle boys' cross country team competed at Fountain Central Saturday. The Tiger Cubs placed sixth out of 15 teams with a total of 138.

Tyler Hudson led the GHS squad with a 12th place finish in a time of 18:02. Ryan Stevens was 20th with a time of 18:33. Hunter Mitchell was 33rd (19:30), Paul Bryan 45th (20:41), Matt White (21:16) and Erik Norlin was 50th (21:17).

Greencastle's Nathan Eubank finished the day in 28th position after posting a personal best 19:02.

"We have been practicing hard the past three weeks," GHS head coach Craig Callahan said. "We began the season with two-a-day workouts and have pushed through some intense heat. The guys have been rising up and meeting my expectations.

"They've been working really hard and pushing their minds and bodies to the limit," he continued. "This meet was great for us because we were ready to be tested. We went up against some big and talented schools and hung in there on a very challenging course. I am very pleased with our results. Nathan Eubank set a PR on a very difficult course."
