Kathleen V. Wood

Kathleen V. Wood of Stilesville passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 at the Putnam County Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1918 in Crown Center to parents Daniel and Mary (Whilite) Pleake.

She lived in Stilesville for 25 years, Indianapolis for 20 years, Martinsville for 10 years and Crown Center for 18 years. A homemaker, she loved to sew and crochet.

She married Frederick Wood on July 28, 1936, and was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Charles and Deryl Wood Sr.; grandson William Wood; sister Helen Miller; and three brothers, Richard, Jewell and Lowell Pleake.

She is survived by five grandchildren, Robert (Alisa) Wood of Bloomington, Deryl (Jessica) Wood Jr. of Spencer, Nick (Julie) Wood of Indianapolis, Christina (John) Daniels of Plainfield, Cathy (Jerry) Strait of Stilesville; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Loraine Oxley of Huntington, Maxine English of Greencastle and Lucille Myers of Huntington; and brother Daniel Pleake Jr. of Florida.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville and will be officiated by Homer Henderson.

Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall.

Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 until time of service Saturday at Jones Family Mortuary.
