Walter L. Prosser, 86, formerly of Indianapolis, passed into the wild blue yonder Aug. 27, 2010.

He was surrounded by his loving, devoted wife of almost 66 years and daughter and son.

Born to Willard and Hazel Prosser of Brown County, he graduated from Center Grove High School and Indiana University. For Pros, an Air Force B25 bomber pilot in WWII, flying was his life passion. He built two planes early on, even his own ultra lite at 70.

Building homes, carpentry, gardening, golf, music, theater, TV commercials, inventions, restoration and preservation -- Pros was a true "Renaissance Man."

Engineer/Vice President of F.H. Langsenkamp, he retired after 40 years to restore his beloved circa 1870 "Rising Hall" on Indiana National Road, U.S. Hwy 40, even completing his last project, The Pergola, at 83.

"Walt" was active until 2008 with the National Landmarks of Indiana and Vice President of the Indiana National Road Association. Found in his desk, in his own words, "I love people and I love the soil."

Pros is survived by his wife, June; daughter, Claudia; son, Hans; brother, Richard; five nieces and nephews, their offspring; and his beloved dog, "Tramp."

A celebration of his life will be held at Rising Hall" at a later date.
