All eyes on Hawk

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk made a surprise appearance Sunday afternoon at the skate park at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle. Hawk and a slew of other pro skateboarders are on the Midwest leg of the Tony Hawk Shred Presents Birdhouse World Tour. The tour stopped in Chicago Saturday night and stopped by the skate park on its way to its Tuesday stop in Cincinnati. A large group gathered for autographs and watched Hawk and Kevin Staab perform tricks early in the day. Riders on the Midwest tour include Willy Santos, Aaron "Jaws" Homoki, Riley Hawk and David Loy. In addition to Cincinnati, the tour will makes stops in Knoxville, Tenn. (Friday) and Athens, Ga. (Sept. 26). This was truly an awesome experience. We just happened to drive by and see his bus and decided to stop, not knowing it truly was Tony Hawk in person. We had a great afternoon. Thank you Tony for making a stop here in Greencastle!

That would have to be the coolest thing in the world. Your a 10 year old at the skate park and Tony Hawk shows up randomly. What a class act by Tony Hawk!

Makes me think he may have researched ahead to see if any local communities had a skate park. So cool.

From what I understand, he helped design our skate park when it was in the planning stages, so he would have known about it.

He actually Donated Money....he has a Thing called the Tony Hawk Foundation... www.tonyhawkfoundation.org giving grants and stuff....I know the town is super stoked on this visit i myself are as well...My son thought i was joking when the Tweets and Texts were coming in about Tony coming....As a Local skateboarder of GC this was a sweet event.....im glad the town got to see the Birdman and the rest of the Birdhouse Crew and possibly opens new eyes and minds to the Sport, and Lifestyle Of Skateboarding...
