City to flush hydrants

Monday, September 20, 2010

GREENCASTLE -- The city's water department will be flushing hydrants throughout the city beginning around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Ed Phillips of the water department said crews will begin on the city's west side and work their way south and east throughout the city. He hopes all the work can be done on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. They will extend it to Friday if necessary.

Phillips said he would encourage water customers to refrain from doing laundry when hydrant flushing is going on in their area. If there is continuing discoloration, contact the water department at 653-5812.

  • Discoloration.....humm, could there be too much or too little of something in the city water?
