PCPL to host Pulitzer-winning correspondent

GREENCASTLE -- The Putnam County Public Library will host Victor Merina for a series of talks and workshops Monday to Oct. 2.

Merina is a senior correspondent and special projects editor for Reznet, a website that focuses on Native American issues and indigenous people.

He has previously worked as an investigative reporter at the Los Angeles Times, where he shared in the paper's 1993 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the L.A. Riots.

Merina will begin his week of events at 7 p.m. Monday as a part of the library's "A Conversation with the Author" series.

On Tuesday, Merina will present some of his multimedia stories at the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University starting at 7 p.m.

Merina will also run three essay workshops. From 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday he will run a high school workshop, with a middle school workshop the next day at the same time. On Saturday, Oct. 2, Merina will run an adult essay workshop from 9 a.m. to noon.

All the workshops are free but require registration by Monday. The middle and high school events have a limit of 18 people, while the adult session has a limit of 20 people.
