Church to auction quilts for fundraiser

Thursday, September 23, 2010

Helen Knauer sits with quilts that will be auctioned at the Beech Grove Methodist Church 52nd Annual fundraiser planned for Friday. Knauer made the butterfly quilt on the right side of the bed. One of the quilts is large enough for a queen-sized bed and the other is large enough for an oversized double bed. Banner Graphic/JOSH GARVEY
The Beech Grove United Methodist Church of Putnam and Park Counties will be having a fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Putnam County Fairgrounds

The fundraiser will feature a dinner, bazaar and auction.

Helen Knauer, one of the event organizers, said last year the event served over 200 people.

"We did pretty well for a little country church," she said.

Dinner will include ham, meatballs, pies and cakes.

Last year, some of the money from the fundraiser helped to put a new roof on the church.

This year, in addition to dinner, there will be a bazaar with a variety of goods including rugs, pillows, aprons, crafts and baked goods. All of the goods that aren't sold will be auctioned, along with two quilts.

Dinner at the fundraiser costs $8 for an adult, $4 for children ages 6 years and older. Dinner is from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the bazaar is from 5 to 7 p.m. and the auction is from 7 to 8 p.m.
