Gareld Eugene Stone, 82, of Indianapolis and formerly of Greencastle passed away Oct. 12, 2010 at Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle after a seven-month illness.

Born Sept. 1, 1928 in Jefferson Township, he was the son of Alva E. Stone and Vera P. Wells Stone.

He had currently been employed with Sam's Club as a service station attendant. He drove a semi for Clairmont Transfer, where he retired after 24 years of service. He drove for other various trucking companies and had been the owner/operator of Stone's Car Wash and The Leaning Tower Pizza in Greencastle and Stoney's Detail Shop in Cloverdale. He had also been a car salesman for Linda Carney Chrysler and Bill Robertson Motors as well as car lots in Crawfordsville.

He attended Fillmore High School. He also served in the U.S. Army and had been a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his five children, Gary Stone, Malinda Hostetler, Tony Stone and wife Penny, Cathy Little and husband Paul, and Lori Hutchison and husband Mark; his grandchildren, Austin Hutchison, Heath Stone, Brandi Stone, Travis Stone, Sunshine Lawrence, David Hostetler, Dustin Hostetler, Chad Hostetler, Amanda McGinnis, Brianna Little, Deanna Garcia and Connie Randle; his former wife Wanetta Stone Harlan and a sister Dorothy Warmoth Butler. He was also the great-grandfather of several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. Wednesday until time of services at Bittles and Hurt in Greencastle. Funeral services are to be held at 7 p.m. directly following visitation at the funeral home with the Rev. Bobby Hopper officiating.

Remains will be taken to the Coatesville Cemetery at a later date.

Stoney will always be remembered for his love of family, Corvettes, and semis.
