Dennis J. Buis

Dennis J. Buis, 89, Greencastle, formerly of Belle Union, passed away on Oct. 20, 2010 at the Putnam County Hospital. He was born on Oct. 1, 1921 in Putnam County and was the son of the late Henry Dennis and Mabel Leone (Craver) Buis.

He was married to Donnis (Bennett) Buis and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Jeanne Berry and husband John of Cloverdale, Donna Joanne Crawford of Greencastle, David Buis of Hackensack, NJ, Wayne Buis and wife Millie of Stilesville, Darrell G. Buis and wife Charlia of Cloverdale; his sister, Madonna Head of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a delivery driver for the Coatesville Feed Mill, a school bus driver for the South Putnam School Corporation and a graduate of the Fillmore High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force, where he served in the European Theater as a member of bomber crew.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, at 3 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale, with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Walnut Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 1 p.m. until service time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Dean Buis, great-grandson, Destin Buis, his sister, Wanda G. Gaston and his brothers, Donald Dale Buis, Wayne Keith Buis and Eugene C. "Chick" Buis.
