BAINBRIDGE -- A two-car accident at the intersection of US 36 and County Road 25W has a Bainbridge man in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

At 9:18 a.m., Jason R. Allmon, 37, Bainbridge was westbound on US 36 in a 1992 Toyota Corolla when he collided with Mychael L. Buchanan, 19, Bainbridge, driving a 2008 Honda Accord. Buchanan was northbound on 25W, crossing US 36.

Allmon said he was traveling west when Buchanan's vehicle pulled out in front of him, and he was unable to avoid the collision. Mary Cline, a witness in another vehicle, advised she looked in her rearview mirror and saw that Buchanan did not stop at the stop sign before being struck by Allmon's vehicle.

Buchanan said he could only remember getting hit from behind as he crossed US 36.

Following the collision, Buchanan's vehicle came to rest in a field northwest of the intersection. Allmon's vehicle was facing into the ditch on the north side of the road.

Allmon was transported the Hendricks Health in Danville by PMH Ambulance. It was discovered he had a chipped vertebra in his neck, and he was transported on to Methodist.

Buchanan complained of pain in his hip and upper leg, but was not transported from the scene.

Besides PMH, responding agencies included the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Bainbridge Police Department, Bainbridge Fire Department and Operation Life Putnam County.

Both vehicles were towed by Kenny's Wrecker. Damage is estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
