CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The North Putnam girls' basketball team opened its season with a 70-32 loss to Crawfordsville Tuesday.

Leading the way for the Cougars was Megan Robinson with 12 points, followed by Maggie Pinney with five. Shelby Frye and Maddi Asbell added four points each, with Sam Lucas adding three points and Kensey Asbell and Alyssa Roberts chipping in two points each.

Head coach Jim Brothers said the team needs to focus on some of the basics in order to improve.

"We just couldn't get to their shooters," Brothers said. "(We were) just a step slow on rotations and stuff -- things we have to get better at. We just have to get better at blocking out and rebounding.

"Just a lot of different little things we have to take care of. We'll work hard on that tomorrow night and see if we can't get better for Thursday night at Danville."
