New surgeon on staff at PCH

GREENCASTLE -- Putnam County Hospital has added another general surgeon to Putnam Surgical Specialties.

Katherine Liu, MD, will begin seeing patients on Nov. 29.

Liu is certified by the American Board of Surgery and National Board of Nutrition Support. She earned her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and completed residency at the University of Chicago.

She also holds many professional memberships, including Society of Surgical Oncology, Midwest Surgical Association and Association of Women Surgeons.

Liu will be joining general surgeons Dr. L.G. Palanca and Dr. Frank Lloyd, Jr. and orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Robin Mendelsohn in the office located inside of Putnam County Hospital.

"Dr. Liu brings several years of experience and expertise to our community," Palanca said. "She will be a tremendous asset to the hospital."

Putnam County Hospital Surgery Center is equipped for a number of procedures, such as colonoscopies, hernia repairs, appendectomies, biopsies, hemorrhoid removal, hip and knee replacements, rotator cuff repair, carpal tunnel release, ACL reconstruction and a number of other services.
