'Home for Holidays' decorating contest

GREENCASTLE -- It is time for Putnam County residents to break out the lights, wreaths, bows, reindeers and plastic Santas and get busy decorating their front yards, porches, rooftops and driveways.

Not only will these decorations brighten up the neighborhood and show some holiday spirit, but it may also earn a $100, $50 or $25 WalMart Gift Card.

The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce and Walmart Store #902 are once again sponsoring the annual Putnam County "Home for the Holidays" lawn decorating contest. Residents can enter the contest by returning the entry from to the Chamber of Commerce office at 16 S. Jackson Street, Greencastle (or faxing it to 848-1015) by 4 p.m. Dec. 10.

Once entered in the contest, residents must have their homes decorated and ready for judging on Dec. 13 so a panel of judges will be able to observe them from Dec. 14 through 16. Lights will need to be turned on by 5 p.m. on those nights and left on until 10 p.m.

Winners will be announced the week of Dec. 20. The contest is open to all Putnam county residents. Anyone with questions may call the Chamber office at 653-4517.
