Teen's car strikes a tree on N U.S. 231

Banner Graphic/JAMIE BARRAND A one-car accident was reported just after noon Friday across from the Putnam County Fairgrounds on N. U.S. 231. The driver of the car, 19-year-old Alyssa Ryan of Greencastle, was transported to the Putnam County Hospital, where she was treated and released. Police at the scene said Ryan's vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree and a utility pole before coming to rest on the west side of the highway. Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Wallace looks inside the car after the accident.
