GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle girls' swim team defeated North Montgomery 113-69 Tuesday in its home opener. GHS had three individual wins and won all three relay events.

Alison Howard won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:27.27 and Sydney Terry won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.99. Riley Seahorn won the diving event with a total of 136 points.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Terry, Emily Wheeler, Melanie Bittles and Rachael Custis won with a time of 2:09.65, while the team of Bittles, Wheeler, Custis and Howard won the 200-freestyle relay in a time of 1:57.19. Howard, Terry, Sarah Beams and Sydney Cassida teamed up to win the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:34.28.

"We were disappointed in the way we began our season last year," Greencastle head coach Luke Beasley said. "Our girls wanted to set a positive tone in the early going, and I think they did that tonight. We had some great swims from our senior leaders, Melanie Bittles and Sydney Terry, along with some excellent performances by a talented freshmen group. They just need to keep working, and we'll get to where we want to be."

Greencastle will travel to Crawfordsville Thursday for a 6 p.m. start.
