Caleb Vondersaar scored the night's lone touchdown Friday in North Putnam's semi-state win.

ROACHDALE -- North Putnam football defeated Evansville Mater Dei 6-0 Friday night to advance to the IHSAA Class 2A state finals.

Caleb Vondersaar hauled in a 25-yard halfback pass from Travis Franklin late in the third quarter for the game's lone score. Brother Aaron Vondersaar made a key interception to set up the Cougars' touchdown drive.

Besides that, the Cougar defense was dominant all night, holding a potent Wildcat offense in check.

The Cougars will face the winner of Saturday's Rensselaer Central and Fort Wayne Luers game at 7 p.m. Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
