A check for $15,000 was presented to Joni Perkins, RN and Director of Nursing at Putnam County Hospital by Guild Member Betty Dunne, Gift Shop Treasurer. The donation will help to fund the purchase of eight computers and mobile work stations for a computer lab. The lab will benefit PCH employees in maintaining yearly compliance in training and education.
"Electronic learning applications allow our hospital staff and volunteers to stay educated, competent and moving forward in achieving a "paperless" environment, stated Perkins, "access to a computer lab will allow us to utilize this form of training."
Fran Allen, Guild Treasurer, presented a second check to Dennis Weatherford, CEO of Putnam County Hospital in the amount of $2000.00. Each year the Guild supports the Putnam County Health Careers Foundation, a scholarship for local students pursuing a healthcare related career, other than nursing. The scholarship is available to Putnam County residents.
"The Guild members have always been very supportive and eager to serve the needs of the hospital through this scholarship program and in other endeavors" said Weatherford.
"The Guild makes this donation with joy, stated Norma Hurst, Guild President.
"Anything we can do to help further the hospital and help the patients, we are very willing to do."
Throughout the year, the Guild sponsors book, scrubs and gift sales as fundraisers so that it can assist with special projects.
The Guild was established to help promote and advance the welfare of PCH through volunteer services, in fundraising efforts and promote a better understanding of the services available to the community.
Also, during the luncheon, Dr. Kristine Knapp, Dr. Elizabeth Brater and Family Nurse Practitioner Windy Watt were introduced to the group. Each spoke of the healthcare services they each provide for the local community.
