Russell H. Pruitt, 78, Danville, passed away Wednesday Dec. 1, 2010.

He was born April 14, 1932 in Vernon, Ky., the son of Bedford and Martha Abney Pruitt.

Mr. Pruitt was a truck driver for Roadway Express for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received two Purple Hearts and a Korean War Service Medal with a Bronze Star.

He is a member of Danville Church of Christ and is a lifetime member of V.F.W Post 908.

Russell is survived by his wife Christina M. Garcia Pruitt; three daughters, Patricia Rist, Jo Ann (Anthony) Gregg and Annett Dean; a son Michael W. (Dawn) Pruitt; 10 grandchildren, Amiee Pool, Justin Drury, Jessica Herring, Stephanie McGuyre, Michael Rist, Mark Rist, Destny Lair, Austen Pruitt, Taylor Pruitt and Peyton Dean; six great-grandchildren; three brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday Dec. 5 at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel with visitation before the service from 2 p.m. until the time of service and after the service until 7 p.m. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Marion.
