William E. Kumpf

William E. Kumpf, 86, of Brazil, passed away at his home on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 following a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 9, 1924 in Posey Township, Clay County, the son of Leslie and Irene (O'Hair) Kumpf. Bill attended Staunton High School. He married Rosemary (Latham) Sanders Nov. 27, 1968.Along with his brother Max, Bill owned and operated Kumpf Brothers Incorporated, a grain and dairy farm in Posey Township until retiring in 2001.

Bill was a member of the East Side Christian Church and more recently attended the Brazil First Church of the Nazarene. Bill enjoyed bowling and throwing horseshoes, spending time with his grandchildren and riding bikes with Rosemary.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Terri Sanders Proffitt; four brothers: Earl Kumpf, Glenn Kumpf, Max Kumpf, and John Kumpf.

Bill is survived by his wife Rosemary Kumpf; children: Gini Boyce and husband Kenneth, William Kumpf Jr. and wife Mary, Peggy Hines and husband David, and Janet Davenport and husband Owen; he also raised Onya Sanders Wetnight and husband David, Doug Sanders and wife Tina, and Brad Sanders; 26 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister Mary Lou Riddell as well as many extended family members.
