Terry Bittles

Terry Bittles, 58, of Greencastle passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Hendricks Regional Health after a brief illness.

Terry was born in Greencastle, the son of Keith and Doris (Williams) Bittles. He attended Indiana State University and graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science with a degree in Mortuary Science.

Terry married Patricia L. (Robinson) Bittles on June 7th, 1975, and she survives.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, father-in-law Robert Robinson, sister-in-law Sandra Jo Bittles and stepmother Patricia (Ruark) Bittles.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Kimberly (Luke) Thomas, Greencastle; Kristina Bittles, Chicago; son, Robert Bittles, Greencastle; brother, Richard (Christina) Bittles, Greencastle; grandchildren, Gabriel and Addison Thomas; mother-in-law,

Martha Allee Robinson, Coatsville; brother-in-law, James (Candy) Robinson, Greencastle; Lynne Williams, Darla Zeis, and Beth Zeis, stepsisters and several nieces and nephews.

Terry began his career by working at Rector Funeral Home. In 1976, in partnership with Frederick Michael Hurt, they purchased Whitaker Funeral Home in Greencastle and renamed the business Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home. In 1987 he sold his interest in the funeral home. Following the sale of the funeral home, he worked in the automotive sales business with Al Carney Chevrolet, Andy Mohr Chevrolet Buick, Linda Carney Dodge Chrysler and Bill Robertson Dodge Chrysler Dealerships.

He enjoyed outdoor activities including golfing, hunting, gardening, and snow plowing. One of his greatest joys, however, was spending time with his grandchildren.

Terry served for several years as Putnam County Deputy Coroner and as a member of the Greencastle Water Board.

Terry attended McKinley Hill Church of Christ. Other memberships included Sons of American Legion, Elks Lodge 1077, Windy Hill Country Club and Greencastle Rotary Club.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Indiana, 5635 W. 96th Street, Indianapolis, IN. 56278.
