William Edward Chandler, 48, formerly of Pittsboro, passed away quietly and without pain Dec. 24, 2010 after a prolonged battle with leukemia.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and musician. He positively touched so many lives throughout his own. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in Boston and his life revolved around his passion for music. He lives on through all of us in our stories, memories and his songs. Family and friends are assisting in completing his final CD "Still Around."

He was survived by his wife Carla Hurst-Chandler, sons: James Michael Hurst, Lennon Keir Chandler, Christopher Ryan Hurst; grandsons Preston P. Parks and Brenden Michael Hurst; granddaughters Kaylee Lynn Hurst and Hannah Renee Hurst, and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Christian Chandler (NOLA).

Christopher and Ryan Puett are holding an Open Mic at The Blue Door Café from 7 to 10 p.m. tribute on Jan. 5.

His memorial will be held at The RMMGA Texas XII Gathering on the banks of the Blanco in Wimberley, Tex on Oct. 2011. It will not be to mourn his passing, but a celebration of his life. There will be friends and family, music, good food, spirits and much love.

Family asks that in lieu of flowers or services, a donation be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
