Mary M. Haltom Boswell

Mary M. Haltom Boswell, 93, Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Belle Union and Greencastle, passed away on Jan. 20, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Fort Collins Village. Mary was born on Aug. 21, 1917 in Putnam County and was the daughter of the late H. Franklin and Myrtle Mae (Lawrence) McCammack.

Mary was married to Ivan W. Haltom for 23 years and he preceded her in death in 1958.

She attended the Vermillion and Belle Union Schools. During World War II, she worked at Kingsbury Ordnance Plant making ammunition for torpedoes.

When living in Greencastle, she worked at the P.R. Mallory Company and attended the Greencastle Church of the Nazarene. Throughout all of this time and during her later years, she enjoyed baseball and was a great fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Her hobbies were mostly needlework projects, and family members and friends have received many gifts of needlepoint, embroidery and quilts. Mary was devoted to the Lord and read the Bible from beginning to end, over and over.

Mary is survived by her daughter Diana (Haltom) Shaner and husband Dale, Fort Collins, grandson Nathan Shaner and partner Gerry Lambert, Seaside, Calif., her former husband Claude E. Boswell, Greencastle, two step-daughters and their children.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Coffman, and her brothers, E.R. McCammack and Herman McCammack.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Internment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
