Letter to the Editor

Duke thanks customers for patience

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

To the Editor,

On behalf of the hundreds of line workers, tree trimmers, damage assessors and support personnel at Duke Energy, I want to thank our customers for their patience and support during the recent ice storm.

We understand the inconvenience of power outages. In spite of that, many customers sent us notes and letters, thanking us for our work. It's impossible to overstate how much we appreciate these thoughts.

One of the advantages of being part of a large family of companies is the ability to draw on resources beyond the borders of our state when these kinds of damaging storms strike. Hundreds of Duke Energy employees from North and South Carolina as well as contractors and workers from other utilities worked shoulder-to-shoulder, around-the-clock with our Indiana employees to battle this storm. When we add it all up, we restored more than 180,000 outages in Indiana in some of the worst weather imaginable.

We take seriously our obligation to provide reliable electric power around the clock, day in and day out.

To those who worked this storm and to those who waited for their power to be restored, thank you.
