Kenneth Russell Spencer, 84, Terre Haute, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2010 at Springhill Village.

He was born Oct. 25, 1926 in Louisville, Ky., to Russell and Eugenia (Westerman) Spencer. After graduation from Valley High School in Kentucky, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On completion of technical school, he started his career at IBM in 1951 and retired in 1987.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Vivian (Williams) Spencer; a son, Andrew R. Spencer and his wife Barbara of Marion, Iowa; a daughter Mary E. Doner and her husband Carl of Terre Haute; and a brother, Irvin Spencer. Grandchildren include Samantha (Doner) McDonald and husband Luke, Carl William Doner III and wife Beth Anne, Amanda Spencer and fiancé Matt Greer and Emily Spencer. Great-grandchildren include Mackenzie Greer, Allyson McDonald, Elias McDonald and Lucille McDonald. Other special people in his life were brother-in-law Kenneth Williams and wife Joanna and sister-in-law Bonnie Spencer, as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers Eugene and Norbert Spencer.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Mark Grayless officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
