Dorothy L. Veach

Mrs. Dorothy L. Veach, 88, Bainbridge, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at Sunrise at Old Meridian Senior Living Center.

Born June 19, 1922 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Thomas and Ruth Irene (Lawson) Shuck. She was a 1940 graduate of Greencastle High School. She married Dr. Richard L. Veach on April 24, 1943, sharing 65 years together, he preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2008.

Dorothy had been a homemaker and a secretary. Her great passions were world travel, reading and gourmet cooking.

Survivors include her sister, Melba Hanlon of Plainfield; a sister-in-law, Joann Shuck of Greencastle; nephews Richard A. (Teddi) Shuck of Greencastle, Edward (Lori) Shuck of Greencastle, Jerry (Sharon) Shuck of Avon and Tom (Judy) Hanlon of Plainfield; and a niece, Elizabeth (Timm) Buche of Plainfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Phillip Shuck and sister Evelyn Spencer.

Private services will be held with entombment to follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery. Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
