GREENCASTLE -- A Coatesville woman who stole more than $55,000 from Old National Trail special education cooperative was arrested Friday for probation violation.

Tammy Y. Mitchener, 35, was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 4:04 p.m. Friday after a warrant was issued for her arrest earlier in the day.

She was slated for a hearing in Putnam County Circuit Court Monday afternoon.

Putnam County Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter said Mitchener was supposed to be living with her mother in the Heritage Lake area. The state alleges she was residing elsewhere, a violation of her terms of probation.

Mitchener spent more than a year in prison, serving from July 2009 to October 2010, before being released to a community transition program.

She was convicted of one count of Class C felony corrupt business influence and one count of Class D felony theft. She was sentenced to five years, with three years to be served

According to court records, Mitchener wrote $56,639.19 worth of checks from Old National Trail to a vendor called PC Technologies, which turned out to be a dummy corporation she set up.

  • I think the Banner Graphic is doing a great job.

I think it is a front page story.

  • I'm not rushing to pat the BG on the back for the story, but in reading between the lines I noticed that she was ordered to live with her Mother.

Did she not have a family of her own before she was arrested? What happened to them?

  • Xgamer ....... her husband divorced her and has custody of their 2 girls. Their house in Rpachdale is up for a sheriff's sale. She is also under investigation for welfare fraud. She was at school to pick up her girls and still dresses like a fashion model.

  • this is simply about not following the rules, she ignored the rules and stole, she got out EARLY, and is ignoring the rules again. Obviously she has not learned the lesson and should go finish her time in jail.

  • When will the Justice Department in Putnam Co.

stop slapping their hands and make all of these

theives do there time in jail. In the old days you got caught stealing, you were hung. Maybe we

should start doing this again. It sure is cheaper

    for the taxpayers.

  • What about the picture? Is she paying someone from the Banner Graphic to use this one in place of her mugshot?

  • Is this a "boudoir" photo or one from a Victoria's Secret catalog. Is this displayed in a manner to develop sympathy? (new poster)

  • "In the old days you got caught stealing, you were hung. Maybe we should start doing this again."

Oh geez... we used to do lots of things "in the old days" but that doesn't mean we should continue.
