Monsanto

The Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department received a check for $2,500 on Monday from Brian Shelton and his family on behalf of the Monsanto Fund. The Monsanto Fund highlights important contributions by farmers through awarding $2,500 grants to a farmer in 1,200 eligible counties, who then has the choice to give it to a program, affiliation or organization of the farmer's choosing. Shelton gave the department the award on behalf of the entire Shelton family. Mike Poole, chief of the fire department, said they plan to use the grant on farm accident safety training. Anyone ever watch that documentary about Monsanto and farmers. How its like Microsoft and a Monopoly to farmers?

It's called "Food, Inc." and is enlightening, to say the least. They had a copy at Family Video the last time I was there, and it is also available on Netflix through DVD as well as Instant Watch. Highly Recommended.

Regardless of my feelings on Monsanto, congratulations to the Sheltons and the Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department!
