GREENCASTLE -- South Putnam boys' basketball coach Micah Elliott has recently resigned his position as head basketball coach at South Putnam.

Elliott will be walking away from a program that has had its share of struggles during his three-year tenure, but the head coach said it was the right time to make the move.

"I talked with my wife and we just thought as a family together it was probably the right decision just to walk away from it," Elliott said. "It was just the right personal decision for me. I'm going to miss the kids and the kids that are coming back I think they have some potential and I think they kind of understand what it will take to get better."

Elliott expressed his thankfulness to the South Putnam School board, principal Kieth Puckett, Superintendent Bruce Bernhardt and athletic director Matt Griswold for the opportunity to coach the Eagles' squad.

In the three years under Elliott, the Eagles posted a record of 11-52.
