Mildred Jean Thomas, 86, Terre Haute, died at her home in Westminster Village on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

She was born July 27, 1924 in Terre Haute to William Ernest Armpriester and Lavina (Larkins) Armpriester.

Jean, as she was better known, graduated from Wiley High School. She met Harry Thomas while she was working at the USO in Terre Haute. They were married on June 9, 1945 in Clinton, Okla. A homemaker, Jean had worked for Sears, Honey Creek Middle School library, and, with Harry, operated Thomas Christmas Tree Farm for many years.

Jean and Harry enjoyed their involvement with the Hoosier Skyliners Club and the Historic Auto Club. An avid bridge player, Jean looked forward to her weekly bridge games with friends. A member of the United Methodist Church, she was the oldest continuous member of that church.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harry; son Darrel (Diana) of Greencastle; daughters Cindy Martin (Bernie) of Statesboro, Ga. and Elaine Jacone of Plainfield; grandchildren Lisa Chadd (Mike) of Greencastle, Kara Thomas of Greencastle, John Martin of Houston, Sarah Martin of Statesboro, Patrick Jacone of Indianapolis and Andrew Jacone (Rachel) of Camby; and great-grandchildren Kayla Chadd and Rachel Chadd of Greencastle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Lela Standau and Ernestine Kyle.

Services are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the DeBaun Springhill Chapel, located at 85 E Springhill Dr., Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 11 to time of services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the building fund for the United Methodist Temple Church.
