City Police

A vandalism incident was reported Wednesday night on Greencastle's South Side.

The back of the Bloomington Street buildings occupied by Stone's Auto Body and Papa John's Pizza were reportedly spray-painted in an incident discovered by a Papa John's employee just before 10 p.m. Wednesday. The graffiti vandalism reportedly occurred between 5 and 10 p.m. that night, Officer Eric Vaughan noted.

A hit-and-run accident was reported on the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings, 1310 Indianapolis Rd. at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Chris Puhala, Greencastle, parked a 2008 Dodge Charger and went into the restaurant to pick up a take-out order. Returning to the car a few moments later, she discovered damage to the left front quarterpanel and door.

Officer Nick Eastham estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

Two other property-damage accidents were investigated recently by city officers.

A two-vehicle mishap was reported at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday on Woodhaven Drive, 800 feet south of South Street.

Officer Albert Epple reported that a 2001 Ford Ranger, driven by William Russell, 57, Greencastle, was southbound on Woodhaven when he slowed and then stopped for a vehicle rounding a curve. When Russell stopped in the roadway, his truck was struck from behind by a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Yvonne Scott, 28, Greencastle.

Office Epple listed total damage to the vehicles at $1,000-$2,500.

At 2:25 p.m. Friday, a two-vehicle accident occurred at Indianapolis Road and Calbert Way on the city's East Side.

Officer Darrel Bunten said a 1994 Ford Aerostar, driven by Dana McCullough, 64, Greencastle, collided with a 2002 Hyundai, driven by Donna Wood, 52, Greencastle, as McCullough was turning on Indianapolis Road from Calbert Way and Wood was eastbound on Indianapolis Road.

Both drivers said they believed they had the green light at the time of the collision.

Total damage in the mishap was estimated $1,000-$2,500.

One recent speeding citation was issued by city officers.

-- At 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jordan Williams, 24, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Officer Eastham for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

Sheriff's Department

* March 14, 6:33 a.m.: Tammy King, 40, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 just south of Primrose Lane in Greencastle in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala when she hit a deer.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

County Jail

City Fire

March 22, 4:40 p.m.: GFD responded to a smoke complaint on a trash fire at 2478 Rangeline Rd. Crews extinguished the fire. Cleared 5:13 p.m.

March 23, 11:56 a.m.: Alarm at 807 S. College Ave. Disregarded en route 12 p.m.

March 23, 6:56 p.m.: Assisted Fillmore Fire Department with a structure fire in an abandoned house at 3751 East CR 200N. Cleared 8:33 p.m.

March 23, 8:01 p.m.: Motor vehicle accident at 735 West CR 50N. Cleared 8:28 p.m.

March 23, 9:16 p.m.: Medical assist at 117 Autumn Glen Dr. Cleared 9:37 p.m.

March 24, 2:14 a.m.: Responded to power lines arcing at 740 Crescent Dr. A limb striking the line caused the problem. Duke Energy was notified of the issue. Cleared 2:50 a.m.
