James R. Clodfelter

James R. Clodfelter, 82, Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011.

He was born Feb. 1, 1929 in Putnam County to Hubert Clodfelter and Elizabeth Eggers Clodfelter.

Mr. Clodfelter was a graduate of Clinton Center High School. He had been employed at Kingan Meat Packing Company, Omar bakery and retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation with 28 1/2 years of service.

Jim was a lifetime member of the Greencastle Moose Lodge. He was awarded numerous ribbons, including a blue ribbon, at the Putnam County Fair for his great salsa and was awarded grand champion for his pickles and red beet relish.

His parents and brother Bill Clodfelter preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children, Jayson Clodfelter and wife Kimberly of Longwood, Fla. and Cynthia Towne and husband Bill of Coatesville; three brothers, Keith Clodfelter and wife Peggy of Nashville, Tenn., Joe Clodfelter and wife Bonnie of Brownsburg and John Clodfelter and wife Connie of Richmond; four sisters, Charlotte Smith and husband Bud of Greencastle, Carolee Smithers and husband Jim of Peoria, Ill., Sandra Elliott and husband Harry of Katy, Texas and Judy Rainey of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Mabel Clodfelter of Donelson, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Anthony Clodfelter and wife Michelle of Knoxville, Tenn., Amanda Clodfelter of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Nathan Towne of Coatesville and Corey Towne of Riverside, Calif.; and two great-granddaughters, Elise Clodfelter and Lauren Clodfelter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery with Pastor John O'Neal officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
