Nancy Marie Rice Buck Robertson

Nancy Marie Rice Buck Robertson, 76, passed away at her home in Nashville, Tenn. on March 12, 2011.

She was born Jan. 3, 1935 in Seven Mile Ford, Va. to the late Carl Coleman and Helen Reynolds Rice.

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Virginia High School in Bristol, Va. and a graduate of Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Abingdon, Va. During her more than 30 years as a registered nurse, she worked in a variety of settings in Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Indiana and Tennessee. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church, a certified lay speaker and an avid Bible scholar.

In September 2010 she published the book, "Caroline, a Lifetime of Love," which was based on a distant relative she discovered during her many years of genealogy research.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Robertson; daughters Sheila (Dennis) Bates and Sue Anne (Wendell) Jones; stepchildren, Brad (Teresa) Robertson and Loretta Robertson; grandchildren Neal (Rachel) Garvin, Rachel Leigh Garvin, Cuyler (Leilani) Jones, Susannah Jones, Hayden (Brittany) Jones and MacLaren Jones; great-grandchildren Cameron and Marshall Jones; brother Donis (Laura) Rice; beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; lifelong friend Betty King Leatherwood; and devoted cat, Precious.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Lee Buck, son-in-law Jim Garvin and stepson Bill Robertson.

Funeral services were held March 15 at Bellevue United Methodist Church in Nashville. She was buried at Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin, Tenn. Sons-in-law and grandsons served as pallbearers.
