Sheriff's Department

* April 5, 10;43 a.m.: Samual H. Kessler, 93, Ladoga, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria. He was approaching an intersection of CR 25W, where Donna R. Albrecht, 55, Bainbridge, was stopped southbound at the intersection in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado.

Albrecht drove into the intersection, saying she did not see Kessler approaching. Kessler said he had no time to avoid the collision, and Albrecht's truck hit his car in the left side.

Kessler was temporarily trapped in his car, but was assisted out of the vehicle by personnel from Bainbridge and Roachdale fire departments and PMH ambulance.

Both drivers were examined by PMH but signed medical releases, refusing transportation to a medical facility.

Damage $10,001-$25,000.

* April 5, 3:55 p.m.: Sara Madison, 28, Cloverdale, was northbound on CR 10E in a 1991 Ford F150 when she came upon big ruts in the driving lane, causing her to lose control of the vehicle, striking a fence and tree on the west side of the road.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

* April 6, 6:25 a.m.: Wesley Parker, 33, Marshall, Ill., was northbound on SR 243 at CR 900S in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado when he hit a deer.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

County Jail

Buddie Nichols, 32, Reelsville: Violation of home detention, April 6, 1:49 p.m.

City Police

On April 5 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Greencastle Police Officers were contacted by Parole Officer Jim Archer. He requested assistance from the Greencastle Police Department in serving an arrest warrant on a parolee named Joe Person III, 35, Greencastle, at 410.5 W. Washington St.

The officers knocked on the door, and Person answered the door. Upon seeing the offcers, he immediately turned around and placed his hands behind his back.

Person was taken into custody by Archer, and a personal search revealed a bag containing 30.4 grams of methamphetamine. A search of the residence revealed 14.2 grams more of methamphetamine, 40.4 grams of marijuana and nine pills of Oxycodone, a schedule II controlled substance.

In total, officers seized 44.6 grams of methamphetamine, 40.4 grams of marijuana and nine pills of oxycodone.

Two females in the residence were also charged. Tammy L. Jones, 29, Greencastle, was incarcerated along with Person. Tracey Boehm, Greencastle, was released with charges pending.

Greencastle Police officers Darrel Bunten, Matthew Haffner, Eric Vaughn and Nick Eastham and DePauw Officer David Barber all worked the incident.

City Fire

April 5, 9:12 a.m.: GFD personnel rescued a cat from a building at Indiana and Washington streets. Cleared 9:23 a.m.

April 5, 12:56 p.m.: Medical assist at 8 W. Washington St. Cleared 1:23 p.m.

April 5, 7:39 p.m.: Crews were dispatched for a car fire at 1330 U.S. 231 North, but it turned out to be a straw bail sitting next to the car. It was out on arrival. Cleared 8:10 p.m.

April 6, 5:03 a.m.: Crews assisted with extrication on a motor vehicle accident at Percy Julian Dr. and Washington St. Cleared 5:49 a.m.

April 6, 5:09 p.m.: Trash can fire spreading to nearby mulch at South Vine and East Walnut streets. Personnel found only a small mulch fire and extinguished. Cleared 5:16 p.m.

April 6, 9:31 p.m.: Alarm at Humber Hall, 208 E. Olive St. Cleared 9:43 p.m.

April 7, 1 a.m.: Alarm at 1 Taylor Place. Disregarded 1:02 a.m.

April 7, 10:34 a.m.: Gas odor at Putnam Count Courthouse. Investigation revealed maintenance crews had spilled gasoline outside the building. Cleared 11:04 a.m.
