Blanche M. Johnston, 85, Greencastle passed away on Sunday April 10, 2011.
She was born on March 25, 1926 to Charles Surber and Irene Bindhammer Surber.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of Fillmore United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, Rebekah Lodge and the Red Hat Society.
Blanche loved playing cards, bingo and enjoyed embroidery.
Surviving are her children, Ken Johnston and wife Norma of Youngstown, Ohio, Sarah Elmore and husband Tony of Coatesville, Earl Johnston and wife Joyce of Greencastle, Charles Johnston of Greencastle, Keith Johnston and wife Tina of Greencastle; daughter-in law, Debbie Light of Texas; brother-in-law, Richard Wood of Plainfield; two sisters, Diane Webster of Indianapolis and Norma Strange of Greencastle; 10 grandchildren, David Elmore and wife Lori, Paula Wiggins and husband Scott, Thomas Johnston and wife Kim, Bill Johnston and wife Michelle, Christa Dunscombe and husband Jason, Travis Johnston and wife, Michael Cope and wife Leslie, Andy Johnston, Blaine Johnston-Hagen and husband Josh; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil "Pete" Johnston; son, John Johnston; brother, Kenneth Surber; sisters, Beryl Kendall, Betty Wood and Bonnie Mandrell and a grandson, Ricky Johnston.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Fillmore Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
