Mary Eileen Young

Mary Eileen (Boots) Young, 94, Crawfordsville, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 14, 2011.

She was born March 18, 1917 in Putnam County and was raised in Greencastle, by Grover and Mary May (Hunt) Boots. She married John S. Young on August 1, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Mrs. Young had worked in downtown Crawfordsville for many years; working at Delakamps, J. C. Penney, and the Golden Rule department stores. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Crawfordsville and a 1935 graduate of Greencastle High School.

She is survived by four children, James R. (Norma) Young, Ladoga, Rachel J. (Bill) Rankey, St. Louis, Mo., Steve B. (Mary Ann) Young, Atlanta, Ga.; William T. (Cheryl) Young, Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren; and 45 great- and great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. Burial will be at the Oak Hill South Cemetery, Crawfordsville. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to funeral service.
