Shorter breaks record as Cougars finish second

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam boys' track team competed against Tri-West and Indianapolis Metropolitan Monday. The Cougars placed second behind Tri-West with a total of 45 points to the Bruins' 102.

Tyler Shorter scored three individual wins for the Cougars, winning the 100-meters in 11:12, the 400-meters in 51.13 and the discus with a toss of 122'. Shorter's time in the 400 set a new school record. Now Shorter has records in the 100, 200 and 400-meters for North Putnam.

Also winning for North Putnam was Mark Roach in the 800-meters with a time f 2:18, Dalton Spears in the 1,600-meters with a time of 5:18 and Hunter Logan in the shot put with a distance of 45-11.

North Putnam went 1-2-3 in the shot put. In addition to Logan's win, Nate Bryan was second with a distance of 42-6 and Eric Davis was third with a distance of 39-11.

Roach was second in the 1,600-meters with a time of 5:19 and Trenton Osborn was second in the 3,200-meters with a time of 12:11. Davis was second in the discus with a toss of 107'.
