Cloverdale comes out on top over Eagles, Patriots

Coverdale track and field made the short trip worth their while, winning both the boys and girls overall team awards.

The CHS boys put up an impressive 70.5 points to Owen Valley's 53.5 and South Putnam's 43 points. The Clover's girls also won big, tallying 65 points to the 53 South Putnam managed and 48 put up by OVHS.

The boys and girls 3,200-meter relay teams got off their teams off to great starts, taking the first event of the night. While the boys won a tight race by just three seconds (8:54-8:57), the girls were sure to put the event away and cruised to an impressive nineteen second victory. Domination in relays would continue to be the theme for Cloverdale, as they were able to secure victories in not only the 3,200-meters, but also the boys and girls 400- and 1,600-meters.

Donovan Sizney put the Clover's boys on his back, picking up points in both track and field events. His three-one hundredths of a second win in the 100 meter dash was supported by a meet-best 20-2 long jump.

Owen Valley took the girl's discus and boy's high jump titles, while South Putnam swept the boy's discus event and pole vault, but it wouldn't be enough for either squad. Cloverdale's dominance, placing first or second in nearly every event, overwhelmed the two red-clad squads.
