Saturday, April 23, 2011

ELLETTSVILLE -- The South Putnam girls' tennis team fell to Edgewood 4-1 Thursday on the road.

The No. 2 doubles team of Jade Asher and Sabrina Arnold defeated Kendalyn Thummel and Michaela Pie 6-2 and 6-0.

In junior varsity action, the doubles teams of Emily Urton and Emily Clark and Kelly Hayden and Kyndra Boyce won as well.

"Despite the loss, (it was a) very good hard fought match. All varsity matches could have gone either way," South Putnam head coach Johnnie Briones said. "(I'm) very proud of both varsity and junior varsity."
