PCH welcomes new hospitalist

Putnam County Hospital welcomes Dr. John Savage as its new hospitalist, who started work on May 2.

A hospitalist is a physician who is responsible for the medical care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The physician focuses on patient care, education, research and leadership related to healthcare.

Savage will be available for inpatients throughout the day to help streamline care and ensure the quality of care.

A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Savage did his residency at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He and his wife Marianne have two children. His hobbies include bicycling sports, mathematics and mechanical repairs.

He was an engineer by trade before returning to school to study medicine.
