Midwest Youth Tennis coming to DePauw June 30-July 28

GREENCASTLE -- DePauw University will play host to the 2011 West Central Indiana Youth Team Tennis beginning June 20 and ending July 28. Matches will take place on Mondays and Thursdays.

The Midwest Youth Team Tennis was developed to give children the chance to play as a team and uses the QuickStart Tennis format.

The QuickStart Tennis Format uses age appropriate courts, racquets and tennis balls to enhance the play and development of younger athletes. Children in grades K-5 are eligible to play and the program is open to beginning tennis players.

It will consist of seven weeks of matches to be played Mondays and Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m. The matches will take place at the DePauw University tennis courts located at 100 W. Hanna Street.

The cost of the program is $50 includes a team uniform, foam ball and age appropriate tennis racquet. Additionally, every player is enrolled in the Ace's Kids Club, which includes an activity book, wrist band, a birthday card and other fun tennis items.

On Saturday the DePauw men's and women's tennis team will host its last home match of the year and are extending an invitational to all tennis enthusiasts from fifth grade through high school to join them. Both teams host Washington-St. Louis, with the men getting started at 9 a.m. and the women to follow at noon at DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
