Walter O. "Chick" Taylor of North Salem died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Brownsburg Health Center in Brownsburg.

He was born Oct. 24, 1920 to John Taylor and Rosie Freeman Taylor in Spencer.

He married Jean E. Small on Nov. 8, 1943 in Danville, Ill., and she survives.

He was a member of the Emmanual Baptist Church in North Salem, Roachdale Masonic Lodge, Senior Citizens in Roachdale, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and Order of Eastern Star.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated Taylor Construction in Roachdale.

Other survivors include two sons, Ron (Carolyn) Taylor of North Salem and Bob Rafferty of Hunington, seven grandchildren, one step-grandchild and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home in Roachdale with Rev. Dan Cline officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Roachdale Cemetery.
