Jordan pleads to conversion
A former TransCare employee originally accused of sexual battery and theft entered into a negotiated plea agreement for a lesser charge in Putnam County Circuit Court Thursday.
Jason A. Jordan, 28, Terre Haute, made a voluntary guilty plea in court on one count of misdemeanor conversion.
He was sentenced to one year, with all but time served suspended, and ordered to appear for non-reporting probation for the amount of time suspended.
The other two charges were dropped in the case.
According to Indiana State Police officials, the investigation began July 12, 2010, when a 26-year-old female victim made allegations to Indianapolis Metro Police Department that during transport from St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil, to St. Vincent Clay Hospital, Indianapolis, Jordan inappropriately touched and sent personal photographs stored on her cell phone to another person's cell phone without her authorization.
Jordan pled guilty to transferring the photos to his own cell phone.
An arrest warrant was issued for Jordan on July 23, who was believed to have left the state. However, Jordan voluntarily turned himself in to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department six days later without incident.
Putnam County Prosecutor Timothy Bookwalter told The Brazil Times the victim died suddenly before she could provide testimony.
"Without her testimony, the case couldn't be proved," Bookwalter said.
